I have been fantasizing about having vintage wood and glass sliding doors in the new studio. A lot of the rental apartments around here had them originally, but many have been removed. So I went to ask the Primula maintenance guys if they have some in storage...they were not receptive to this, unfortunately. But while we were talking to them, we got an interesting bit of info. The floor levels of the two studios are different! I know the ceiling heights are different but I figured that's where the difference was... in the ceiling height not the floor. So I tried a couple different ways to calculate the difference. Two methods gave me the result of 33 cm. Two others gave me 26 and 40 respectively. So this will be strange and interesting to see when they start to take down the wall! And good news! I later saw the perfect doors on Blocket! They didn't respond to my inquiry but they did to Adams and my brother-in-law will go pick them up tonight! They are going to let this beautiful light pass though the new studio and into the old. They also have textured glass so they will provide privacy as well. And finally, I started taking down the ceiling tiles. I couldn't help myself! The raw ceiling is kind of cool... but maybe painting it would make the space brighter. We will have to assess. Does anyone happen to have a power washer and/or a wet vac? I think this place needs a serious clean (that will be hard to achieve by hand) before any painting can occur! After class you all can take a peak with me...if you each promise to help me cary some of these ceiling tiles. They are surprisingly heavy!
